In 1978 he founded New Rock, a trading company for mountain equipment.〔Le Temps, 17 August 2013 ()〕 With the profits of this company Nottaris can finance his expeditions and sponsor some mountaineers like Ueli Steck〔(Outdoor Guide, Winter 2012-2013, p. 30-37 )〕〔(Interview with Ueli Steck )〕 and the brothers Anthamatten.
